EUROPARC Conference 2023 - Tribute to our landscape

REGISTER BEFORE 22 SEPTEMBER!

Registration will close soon, so make sure you register today! Our programme will combine the best of EUROPARC, like networking and knowledge sharing, with interactive sessions that allow you to work on current challenges together with peers. This year will be extra special, as we will also celebrate EUROPARC's 50th Anniversary.

The continuous, substantive binding line for all activities is how these subjects relate to the theme, ‘Tribute to our landscape, where nature and people meet in harmony’. This will be explored throughout the Conference in all planned sessions and activities – for example:

  • Keynote speakers: inspiring, international speakers will provoke ideas and thoughts about the meaning of landscapes and explore current transitions around climate, health and sustainable development. Time will be given for discussion, questions and interactions with Conference participants.
  • Inspiration sessions (workshops): a range of interactive and participative inspiration sessions, on subjects directly related to the relationships between landscapes, nature and people, will be organised. These sessions will include case-studies drawn from protected areas and National, Regional and Landscape Parks across Europe (such as the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea). Each session will be led by experienced individuals from different countries. In collaboration with participating young people, three main conclusions from each session will be presented during the final day to be incorporated to the ‘Conference Statement’ (see below).
  • Fieldtrips: benefiting from the conference location, a range of field trips will be organised to link with examples related to the conference theme. Each trip will be inspiring and FUN and enable participants to learn and also share their experiences. During the outward journey to National Parks and sites located in and around the Wadden Sea area, interpretive guidance about landscape features will be provided by students.
  • Market Place: here, Europe’s Protected Areas/National Parks and participating partners have opportunities to share their work and projects. In 2021 everyone attending the conference can sign up for the Market Place. A limited number of places will be available and preference will be given to those presenting subjects and work related to the conference theme.
  • Statement: we intend to conclude with a ‘Conference Statement’. The goal of our statement will be to reflect:
    • Action points and challenges for ourselves – EUROPARC Federation, Protected Areas, National, Regional and Landscape Parks
    • Points of attention and action for policymakers about the important meaning of Protected Areas for our society.

Throughout the conference there will be lots of space for networking.

At the same time, specific attention will be given to the involvement of young people: as well as being integral to the whole conference, they will also have their own ‘special moments’!
